Mandarin Duck Portrait

Description

Well....since I came home from Canada I had a serious art block for like 2 weeks or so and today I managed breaking it :D
However, apart from the usual stuff I bought (like maple syrup and of course wolf shirts :XD: ) I unexpectedly found a 60-pieces set of Prismacolor pencils at a supermarket.....I´ve thought about buying some before because I´ve heard good things about them from other artists and it would be stupid to NOT buy them! Also they were cheaper than when I´d have bought them home or from the internet, so I made a pretty good deal :D
So this is the first full blown drawing I did until that time!
I did try the pencils out before but didn´t manage anything more than just some few animal sketches (like some elk from pics I had on my camera) because in Canada I hadn´t much time for art (usually came back to the motels late in the evening and tired as hell...) and at home I had time but like I said before I had an art block :(
Anyhow, I´m in love with those pencils and I honestly think they play in the same league as Polychromos and Derwent pencils!
They are really smooth, rich in color and easily blendable....
So why I did draw a duck? Because it´s a bird species I didn´t draw much before (unless you count the duck in Peter and the Wolf, but that´s just a duck doll, not a real one!) and I find Mandarin ducks really pretty!
And I think it came out pretty good, the hardest part was that distinctive plumage in the neck area...
